Philharmonic Friday: The Climb
Miley Cyrus has been really beaten up recently – ever since her performance at the VMAs and then her recent (somewhat racy) video release for “Wrecking Ball.” Instead of joining in on the pop culture madness, I thought about the woman herself.
I think at some point in our lives, each of us has been made fun of, mocked, ridiculed, poked fun of in a derisive way. I thought about times when I felt like the world was out to get me. What must it be like to have that happen on any number of media outlets (TV, magazines, radio, etc)? Geez – how overwhelming!
And yet, if w just remember who we are and where we came from — and if we recognize that other people’s opinions don’t define us; we are allowed to make mistakes and move on from them – it is only human — then we can overcome any obstacle.
What better way to remind us that we can move forward – we can achieve whatever we want – no matter what is standing in our way than – Miley Cyrus’ song “The Climb?”
